Is it possible to learn to dance without lessons?
23rd October 2008
I REALLY can't dance, is it possible to learn without taking lessons? And if so how?
You can teach yourself pop styles, but as you might have seen in the case of Cedric Gardner who was eliminated from the latest season of "So You Think You Can Dance," it won't get you very far. In his moving speech, Cedric advised aspiring dancers to get themselves to dance classes. The more technical the style of dance, the more imperative it is to have a qualified teacher give you corrections.

Of course, go to you tube, find for example hip hop lessons and practice. You can pause , forward or rewind the video every time to follow every step.
Good Luck!!

dance is moving.. look at jumpstyles they are just simply junping and the DI move Chacha is like they are only walking.. every dance step is made by motor movements either fine or gross movements. so any movement you do and pattern it with a music you can call it dancing..

Chris Judd is a famous choreographer that started dancing with no previous training. He simply watch music videos and went on from there. It's all about how dedicated you are to doing it.

You can learn to be a very good untrained dancer with diligence and practice. Of course, you'll then look like a good untrained dancer. There's really no substitute.
